It was great to visit Bridge College in Openshaw last week to meet with the student council.
Bridge College is a specialist college for students up to the age of 25 with learning difficulties, disabilities and autism, and it was really interesting to talk to the staff and students about the college and what is on offer there. I was really impressed by the wide range of facilities at the college, which has its own hydrotherapy pool and sensory rooms. The support offered to the students is fantastic and I’m really pleased to have such a wonderful college in my constituency.
I also spoke to the Student Council about the voting system and some of the difficulties people with disabilities can face exercising their right to vote. We discussed accessing the polling station and how to apply for a proxy vote.
It was great to meet such a lovely group of young people.
Here are some photos from the visit and if you’d like to find out more of the school, you can visit their webpage here.
