Lucy supports MEN's campaign to get devolution back on track

count_2015.jpgLucy is supporting the Stop the #NorthernPowercut campaign, launched yesterday by the Manchester Evening News. The campaign comes days after Transport Minister, Patrick McLoughlin announced government plans to electrify the Manchester to Leeds rail line have been "paused."

Lucy has previously expressed her disappointment in the government’s failure to fulfil their commitments to the North and she has now joined the Manchester Evening News in calling on George Osborne to pledge that the scheme will go ahead as planned.

 Lucy said:

Upgrading the line was a Conservative manifesto pledge which they have broken only weeks after the election. It is completely unacceptable and the Chancellor should use his budget to reinstate the electrification work urgently.
