Lucy visits the English Institute of Sport and views the Taekwondo Grand Prix

IMG_3488.JPGOn Friday, Lucy visited Sportcity where she met with the English Institute of Sport team and was shown around their facilities. She was also introduced to some of the athletes training at the centre, which specialises in helping elite athletes to improve performance through the delivery of science, medicine, technology and engineering.

Lucy said:

I really enjoyed meeting the team today and taking a tour of the fantastic centre. I was really impressed by the wide range of facilities, especially the altitude chamber, re-hab zone and high-performance gym. It's great to have this centre of excellence based in Manchester and, from speaking to the directors of the elite sports based here, I know just how vital the EIS is to their success.

Lucy was also able to watch some of the Taekwondo Grand Prix, which was once again being hosted in Manchester this year. The cream of British talent – including Olympic medallists Jade Jones and Lutalo Muhammad –were performing at the Etihad Campus over the weekend, and Lucy was lucky enough to be able to watch some of the athletes in action.

Below are some photos from the visit:
