Manchester Central by-election confirmed for Thursday November 15
- Voters urged to send a message to out-of-touch Tory-led Government - Lucy Powell
Voters are being urged to send a message to the out-of-touch Tory-led Government after the by-election date for Manchester Central was confirmed for Thursday November 15.
The writ for the by-election was moved in the House of Commons today (Tuesday).
Tony Lloyd stood down yesterday as MP for Manchester Central as he aims to become Greater Manchester’s first Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC).
Manchester Central residents are being urged to vote Labour twice on November 15; for a new MP for Manchester Central and Greater Manchester's first PCC.
Lucy Powell, Labour’s Manchester Central Parliamentary candidate, said:
"I am honoured to be the candidate for the Manchester Central by-election and know that if elected I have very big shoes to fill – I will do all I can to Put Manchester First.
"The out-of-touch Tory-led Government are letting Manchester down. They said we were ‘all in this together’, but they’re giving a tax cut to millionaires while thousands in Manchester are paying the price."
